Date: 2008-03-13 01:55 am (UTC)Prompt: Soujiro arrives at the Kamiya Dojo after ten years of wandering. ^_^
God, I hope this doesn't suck...
Date: 2008-03-13 03:21 am (UTC)When Soujiro had first made the decision to go wander, he had done so to follow the example of another. A man far wiser than he had wandered for ten years to find a path and a philosophy by which to live his life, and Soujiro sought the same.
It had been a long time since he had been here. It was one of the only places he really avoided, given what had happened here. The last time he had ventured to this place had been on a mission of assassination. It was strange to be here now, after so many years had passed. It was different, yet very much the same.
For a while, he simply wandered the streets. People pointed at him, probably because of the sword at his belt. He still carried it and still trained with it; it was a trusted partner. It would be interesting to see how a rematch with the Battousai would go. Somehow, he doubted that it would be as interesting of a battle as the one they'd had in Kyoto.
But after a while, he found himself pausing outside a building. He stood and pondered the dojo for a moment. The Kamiya dojo, the worn sign on the front said. He remembered the name--a young woman, he had been told, and a friend of the Battousai.
Well-trained eyes scanned the area. There were obvious signs that the place was occupied. The dojo building itself, while old, had been kept up relatively well, and there were signs that one of the poles supporting the overhang on the walkway had recently been repaired. Possibly a mishap with a student? The lawn was well-maintained, and he thought he saw the flutter of laundry blowing on a line around the corner.
After a few minutes of standing there, he began to turn to move on, but paused when he saw motion: a door was sliding open. He paused and watched as a form stepped out.
Someone he knew quite well, if only in memory.
The years had taken their toll on the one who had been Battousai, just as they had taken their toll on the building from which he had emerged. But there was still something in the man's very presence that said if pressed, this was a man who could be very, very dangerous.
And then he seemed to notice he had an observer.
Soujiro froze at Himura's questioning look. He didn't really believe that he would be remembered, not after all this time and the changes the years had wrought. There was no chance that...
Himura smiled. And nodded to him, a slight bob of the head that spoke volumes.
After a second of surprise, Soujiro felt his own head move to return the gesture. And he smiled as well.
"Kenshin?" a female voice called from within the dojo.
Himura stood there for a second longer, holding his gaze. Then he turned and went to follow the summons.
Now alone, Soujiro remained motionless for a time before he, too, began to move again, walking away from the dojo.
It was incredible, really--some changes could take years and years to happen, while others could happen in the space of a glance. Particularly if that look was with the one person who could truly understand.
...this sucks, doesn't it? ~_~;;

Date: 2008-03-13 02:55 am (UTC)Sorry it kinda sucks!Conan dubiously eyed the cars lined up on one side of the narrow dirt road as he trotted along after a fuming Ran - she was Not Happy and he didn't want to risk getting yelled at for lagging behind. They were lost. They were beyond lost in a country where only he and Ran had any hope of communicating properly with the locals. Kogoro might put on airs - he was real good at that -, but throw in any sort of accent and any possible chance of understanding went straight out the window. Well, that was his working excuse, at least.
"If you had stopped and asked for directions, we would be at Hakuba-san's house by now," Ran groused as she marched on determinedly.
"It's not my fault the map was incorrect," Kogoro shot back, his tone thoroughly indignant, not that Ran was giving it any heed at all. In fact, Conan doubted she was paying attention to anything but the drawbridge leading into the village up ahead - nice little moat there.
"There was nothing wrong with the map, you just can't read it," Ran said sharply as she turned and stalked across the bridge.
"Ran," Kogoro almost whined. She really was in a snit this time.
"Don't you Ran me, I'm hungry." She whirled around then, pointing her finger accusingly at her father. "And so is Conan." Ran spared him a glance at that. Conan wisely said nothing. "And we wouldn't have this problem if you had just stopped so we could ask for directions."
"Give me a break," Kogoro grumbled and stomped on along after the pair. It seemed as if some sort of peace and quiet might finally return to the forlorn detective and his usual retinue as they entered the village proper; however any such hopes were dashed as an almost familiar sounding litany of curses exploded somewhere nearby.
Ran stopped in mid-stride and cocked her head to the side. "That sounds awfully familiar, don't you think?"
Kogoro cocked his head as well and listened for a few moments. "Sounds kinda like Nakamori, but what would he-" Any further words were forgotten as all three of them watched an eerily familiar white caped figure hop from one rooftop to the other.
"Oh," Ran murmured as the notorious thief slipped behind a chimney and vanished from sight. "Well, I suppose it's not really that strange for Inspector Nakamori to be here after all."
"I wonder how long it'll take for Hakuba to show up," Conan muttered to himself as he eyed the curious little village with a far more calculating gaze than the one he'd been giving it prior. If the Kaitou Kid was here, then there had to be something of great interest hidden within it somewhere. He wouldn't come halfway across the world for nothing.
Plot inconsistencies yhey.
I figure the Professor would figure out a way to jury rig the bridge before Nakamori really did explode. ^^;;(no subject)

Date: 2008-03-13 03:38 am (UTC)Luke watched curiously as the professor walked into the room. Layton had one hand to his chin in a trademark thinking pose, and he was murmuring to himself. It didn't take a puzzle master to see that the great Professor Layton was deep in thought about something.
After a moment, Layton glanced at his apprentice. "Luke, my boy, have you seen my hat? It seems to have gone missing."
The boy blinked, startled. "No, professor. I haven't. Isn't it on the hat rack, where it usually is?" Layton was usually fastidious about such things.
"No, it's not." A frown crossed Layton's face.
It was on the tip of Luke's tongue to suggest that perhaps someone had borrowed it when they both heard a giggle from down the hall. They both paused for a moment, glanced at each other, then moved as one person to the door and crept down the corridor, following the laughter.
They peered through the slightly-ajar door leading into Flora's room...and found the answer to the mystery.
The girl had Layton's top hat in her hands and was trying it on, modeling it in front of her mirror, trying it at different angles. She reached out and selected a pretty yellow flower from a vase on her bureau; she carefully tucked the stem into the hat-band and began the modeling anew.
Layton cleared his throat delicately.
Flora jumped and spun around. "Oh, I...I mean, I..." She took the hat off and held it out to him. "...I just wanted to try it on."
Smiling, Layton took the hat from her and put it on his own head, the bright yellow blossom still perched on the brim. He studied his reflection for a moment, then struck a thinking pose. "I think this is a good look for me, don't you?"

Date: 2008-03-13 02:49 am (UTC)Shinichi and Ran at the beach - Shinichi has a book...
make it what you want ^^
Heeheehee~
Date: 2008-03-13 04:18 am (UTC)When Ran suggested spending the afternoon at the beach, Shinichi had...really not been terribly pleased. He'd had big plans that afternoon (consisting of the newest novel in a mystery series he had been following religiously for a while now), and he was a little unhappy about those plans being disrupted for a mindless activity like sunbathing.
In the end, though, he really was unable to refuse Ran much of anything. So he did the next best thing: he shoved the book in his bag along with all the necessary beach equipment and jumped in the car.
When they got there, he snagged a spot, set out a chair, and stripped off his shirt. He did noticed several girls, probably in their early teens, watching him with a great amount of interest. Particularly when the shirt came off. Feeling a bit self-conscious (after all, he was both half-naked AND spoken for), he gave them a little wave. They squealed and giggled.
Girls were confusing, he decided, and settled onto the chair with his book. Ran would probably be out soon. She had gone to change into her bathing suit. This way both of them could be happy--she could spend her sunny day at the beach, and he could read his book.
For several moments, all was absolutely great.
Then...
"Shinichi, you did not come all this way just to read a book, did you?" Ran's voice asked from above him.
He didn't look up. "This way we can both be happy."
A T-shirt dropped to the sand by his chair. "All right...if that's what you want."
It occurred to him at that point that he should look up. And blessed be, what a sight met his eyes.
Ran.
In a bikini.
A small bikini that left fairly little to the imagination.
And she really did have a great figure...
...and she was walking away, heading towards the water.
Suddenly, the book didn't seem so interesting. "R-Ran! Wait up!" Shinichi dropped the book on his beach chair and nearly face-planted in the sand in his hurry to catch up to the goddess he was fortunate enough to be dating.
And somehow, he wondered if that hadn't been her intention from the start.

Date: 2008-03-13 03:15 am (UTC)Pairing: Conan/Ai (yes, I asked for *that*)
Rating: PG or lower, if possible
Prompt: "Let's just give them what they want."
I take no responsibility for this...
Date: 2008-03-13 03:49 am (UTC)"Do we have to do this?" Haibara Ai asked, folding her arms.
"Might as well just get it over with," Conan replied. He didn't seem much more pleased at the prospect than she was, though his expression of distaste took the form of the Scary Detective Eyes, whereas hers was in her icy tone of voice.
The scientist sighed. "I just don't see why we have to--"
"If we do it, we can get out of here alive," he pointed out. "So let's just give them what they want and get it over with."
She squared her shoulders and nodded. "All right..."
They leaned towards each other...and kissed. Their lips barely brushed.
From somewhere up in the sky, there was a chorus of squeals, applause, and the thuds of people falling out of their chairs. There was also a clacking sound like thousands of keyboards all being typed on at once.
The two shrunken teenagers pulled apart. Haibara looked up. "Is that--"
"Yes, it was," Conan nodded. "The sound of a thousand fangirls keeling over...or typing blog entries. Now let's get out of here before they wake up or notice we're gone."
*whistles and waits for the bricking*
