Okay, it's not a secret that I can't resist a challenge. I am EXTREMELY partial to them. I like things that make me think and have to work and seem difficult.

So...I signed up (tentatively) for this thing called [livejournal.com profile] summerwrite. It's like NaNoWriMo, but on a bigger scale. Namely, the idea is to write a 150,000 word story/novel in four months--starting on May 1st and going through August 31st. That evens out to a minimum of approximately 1220 words a day.

...oh, don't give me that look XD The trouble I'm really having is deciding what I want to write. I'm of several minds about it, and all sides have their advantages and disadvantages. Here are my thoughts:

A) Focus on my ongoing MKR epic and try to get the whole project wrapped up.

Pros: Would almost definitely put me above the 150K word-count. The 1220 words a day would easily cover one section of a chapter. Would be nice to finish up a project I've been working on for years.

Cons: Would have to be done to the exclusion of all else, which could throw a kink into some of my other goals. Would also have to spend the next three weeks outlining as fast as I can to make sure I'm ready to go.

B) Do it as a series of one-shots for various other things.

Pros: More variety. Would go more towards reaching some goals I had set for myself.

Cons: Potentially less likely that I'll make the minimum word count. Doesn't quite seem to be as in-line with the "spirit" of the community and the challenge.

C) Start an entirely new project for it.

Pros: Would be a nice change of pace.

Cons: Ideas? What ideas?

...I DON'T KNOW XDD

And now, ganked from [livejournal.com profile] ickaimp and [livejournal.com profile] ysabet...

1. My username is ______ because ______.
[livejournal.com profile] candy__chan because it's derived from Candyland. When I was in high school, a friend gave me the nickname Candy because of my sweet-tooth. I adopted that as my handle at first, and at some point it evolved a bit. I've thought about changing it, but...was voted down. Severely XD

2. My name is _____ because ______.
Lindsey, because my parents thought it was A) pretty, B) easy to spell, and C) not too common of a name. They were right on two out of three--when I was in high school, I was in a fifty-voice show choir. Four Lindseys. None of us spelled our name the same way. I do like my name's meaning, though--it means "place of the linden trees."

3. My journal is titled ____ because ____.
"A romp through the insanity patch" because it was originally my subtitle, but after a while I got tired of my old title ("Me, Myself, and I"), but I liked my subtitle, and I moved it up. I just thought of it at some point and kept it.

4. My journal subtitle is ____ because ____.
"The hotel of my mind has many vacancies" because I thought it was funny. ANIMANIACS QUOTE FOR THE WIN!

5. My friends page is called ____ because ____.
"Sexy, sexy people" because they are, of course.

6. My default userpic is ____ because ____.
Candyland because, as stated above, it's my handle. [livejournal.com profile] kaitodoushi was kind enough to make me an icon to match my handle, and it's my default icon pretty much everywhere.

And I thought I had trouble resisting the urge to do fifty-million writing challenges. You win. :)

I take it that the novel doesn't have to be an original fic since you're considering MKR. Good luck!

...in my defense, I've clamped down on the number of theme comms I'm doing. I'm down to two D: This isn't a theme thing. It's just a writing deal. THERE IS A DIFFERENCE! *clings to delusions*

It doesn't say in the rules (as they stand right now) that it has to be original. But it sounds like there'll be a Massive Post of Rules and Doom on Saturday, so we shall see then ^^

It's up to you if you want to do that challenge. ^_^ NaNoWriMo is my big one every year. You could try it and see if you like it.

I'm pretty sure I want to. It's just a question of what exactly I write for it--go for lots and lots of shorter stories, or just wrap up my big one. I'm sort of leaning towards doing the big one and getting it out of the way.

I...had a bad experience the year I tried NaNoWriMo, and the bad taste still hasn't left my mouth. Guilt by association isn't really fair, but it's how it is.
