It's a toss up between Anne Michael's Fugitive Pieces and Jhumpa Lahiri's Interpreter of Maladies. I can't decide. XD

Fugitive Pieces has one of the most poetic writings I've ever read. There's not much in terms of a story. It is more a mix of a historically well-researched look at Holocaust survivors and a memoir of its fictional characters. It can lose its direction at times, but all in all it's a beautiful piece of writing.

Interpreter of Maladies is a compilation of short stories about American-Indian immigrants and ordinary Indians struggling to survive in their native country. Most have a bittersweet flavor. If you remember my Hakuba story about him and his caretaker, this book is the inspiration for that. I think I sort of relate to the characters quite a bit, going from one culture to another.

Oh wow, those sound awesome! I've been reading Inkheart by Cornelia Funke, as well as various young adult literature as found in the middle school library during study hall XD

Wish I had more time to read nowadays...
