Hmmm...random...
Jun. 17th, 2008 11:07 pmWe just watched that AFI special: Top 10 of 10 or whatever they called it. They picked the top ten movies from each of ten genres. We like to watch these things when they air them and try to guess what'll be on the list. Let it be known that my parents and I suck at guessing sports movies and romantic comedies. And Westerns.
I've been meaning to mention that we went and saw Kung Fu Panda a few nights ago. I didn't go in expecting much of anything from it. I honestly thought it looked kind of stupid, and I'm not a huge Jack Black fan. So imagine my surprise when I found the movie to be utterly delightful.
One thing I like about a lot of these newer animated movies (especially the CG ones) is that there are some jokes for the kids and all, but there are a fair number of jokes that are entirely for the parents and adults. It was us three and one other family in there, and I think me, Kat, Rach, and the dad from the other family laughed more than his kids did ^____^ But really, it is a wonderful, funny movie. And considering that Jackie Chan did a voice in the movie, I wouldn't be too surprised if he consulted on the fight scenes, because they were AMAZING.
Also watched the Tonys. CLAUDE BLESS DVR! And now, just like every year when I watch the awards, I feel compelled to go buy CDs. NUUUUUUUUU!! *wails but is still dragged away to the CD section of Barnes and Noble*
I remembered the one-liner I wanted to share but forgot about last post! It was when I was having a discussion with
kaitodoushi about the Ace Attorney games. Last I heard, she was also seeing TEH GHEY and we were having a good time discussing it. And Gumshoe came up, and I found myself saying this:
Me: Gumshoe...he's like a scruffy puppy. I just want to hug him. And then spray him down with a hose. And then dump a bucket of soap on him. And spray him down again.
Kat: *roffles*
We have fun. Lots and lots of fun :3
I'm going in tomorrow to fill out paperwork so I can officially go back to work. Whew...not glamorous, but it is a paycheck, and they seem happy to have me back. We'll see what happens there, I suppose. I don't...this whole job hunt... *sighs and moves onto happier topics*
The last chapter of Inuyasha went up tonight. It's finally over. Sadly, I can't help but remember that line in Naruto Abridged: "We have to have these excruciatingly long scenes to lengthen the series. It's called Inuyasha Syndrome." "No, no, that's when nothing happens for the entire series! You're thinking of Dragonball Z Syndrome!" ...to which
kaitodoushi replied that plenty of stuff happened in the series. If you didn't pay any attention to the storyline. Which really says it all *laugh*
Also, Icka and I came to the conclusion that phantom thieves are the offspring of a union between a pirate and a ninja. Oh, and life continues to prove that if I like something, chances are that a phantom thief will pop up in it sooner or later. Newest case in point: Nancy Drew: The Phantom of Venice. Bliss ~♥
I have passed the 75K mark for
summerwrite. I am over halfway done with the challenge. And I have yet to actually finish a damn project. I'm sure that this surprises no one.
I'm reading a couple of different manga series over on OneManga. Will post about them at some point. Right now...I think I'm going to end this very long entry and let you all get back to your regularly scheduled...whatever you have regularly scheduled at this point.
