Aug. 10th, 2008 09:47 amSo yesterday was the wedding~ :D It was an AWESOME day! The church was beautiful, and it was a lovely ceremony--lasted about forty-five minutes, and then they dismissed by row so the newlyweds could greet everyone. Then they did pictures and took a trolley over to the hotel where the reception was being held, by way of the Botanical Gardens so they could take more pictures. I was the best man's date (ILU, RYANN!), so I got to ride on the trolley. Yays!
I wound up spending most of the day hanging out with Matt and Ryann, which is pretty much MADE OF AWESOME! We munched on crackers and cheese and fruit and chocolate fountain-dipped pound cake for a little while at the meet n' greet before venturing down to the lobby in search of a place to sit. I walked out to Matt's car with him to look for his cell phone, and then we walked back over to the church to get my car and bring it over to the hotel. Then we went and sat back down in the nice air-conditioned lobby again because walking/standing around a lot in uncomfortable shoes equals fail. And hurting ^^;;
The dinner was awesome, too. The kids all got pizza, and all the grown-ups are so hungry at this point that we're going, "That pepperoni looks really good... *droolpool*" But we got salad and chicken and potatoes...and wedding cake, of course. Yummy cake :D Ryann's toast was hilarious: "I thought she looked so sweet and shy and quiet...how could she handle Andrew? Then I met her, and I realized that I'd been HAD."
AND I CAUGHT THE BOUQUET! I NEVER CATCH THE BOUQUET! ...and then Ryann immediately rushed over, took my hand, and got down on one knee :D ILU AGAIN! And we danced (yes, I danced), and hung out, and I got a back massage. The party was winding down by eight or so, and I left around a quarter after eight. Three hour drive FTW, yo.
There was really only one blip on the radar all day, and that was one person who was invited and did not appear at the wedding, though I guess the impression had been given that they would be attending--they being person and person's other half. So Ryann called this person and asked if they were coming to the reception. (I know about this call because he said he was calling this person and I was standing next to him when he dialed.) Apparently they decided to go play D&D instead of coming to the wedding or reception.
...yeah. Not going to say anything else on that.
But you know what? It didn't dent the day for any of us. We had a great time hanging out and catching up and celebrating the marriage. And I'm so happy for them--I've never seen Andrew look happier, and Tiffany is a wonderful woman. Best wishes for a happy future!
