Meme and intro post~
Sep. 13th, 2008 05:23 pmEveryone on my f-list is doing it, and I cave before peer pressure! *SHOT* Besides, I had quite a day at work. Pick-me-up comments are win ~♥ But seriously, yeah. Twenty pizzas, a pack of garlic toast, two packs of breadsticks, and a calzone later? I can has die nao, pleez.
It occurred to me that it has been ages since I did an intro post, and I've made LJ friendings with some new people since my last one, which may or may not have been back when I started this journal. So time for me to toot my own horn a bit, I suppose?
Greetings! My name is Candyland, a handle derived from my high school nickname of Candy, which came from my unmatched sweet-tooth. I have gone by the same handle for years, and when I mentioned that I was thinking of changing it, I was started at how many people told me no ^__^
I am twenty-two years old, going on twenty-three (end of October). I am the elder of two kids, with a sister two years my junior who is affectionately referred to on this journal as Bug. That comes from a nickname our grandmother gave her when she was a toddler. She hates it. So of course I use it here :D She can be a brat, but I love her anyway. My parents are...well, my parents, I suppose.
My best friend is
I have been playing video games since I was about five years old, when my parents bought our first system: the original NES. And lord, what a glorious package of dreams that little gray eight-bit box was ♥ My hands were barely big enough to work the controllers right. I got my first Gameboy in third grade with the money from my First Communion. The big ol' gray clunkers. I am now the proud owner of a PS2, a PSP, a Nintendo DS, a Wii (well, technically my parents', but I play it), and a newly acquired XBox 360.
M'also an anime fan. My first one was Sailor Moon, as is the case with many of my generation of fandom-goers, but really didn't kick in until I started watching DBZ and discovered that writing fanfiction was sort of fun and I didn't seem to suck too badly at it. It's gone since then, and I am quite happy with my fannish activities. I've met a ton of interesting people through them.
...we won't talk about jobs right now. It makes me very, very angry >_>
Let's see, what else can I tell you about my boring self...my favorite colors are green and pink, and my favorite combination is blue, green, and yellow. I love all things musical, and have been told that I am a pretty decent singer. I love things that make me laugh. I am remarkably anti-social when face-to-face, but I'm a little social butterfly online (sort of).
I am an impulse shopper unlike any other, and I'm not terribly good at handling money. Spoiling my friends rotten around Christmas is almost a personal mission. I also suck at prioritizing. Seriously. SUCK. I have a bit of a jealous streak in me, and I will go to the ends of the earth for my friends.
I love to chat and stuff, but I am actually insanely shy about commenting to people and friending people--one of the reasons that I haven't posted more to
Contact info is on my main LJ page, but pretty much everything is Candyland1030--my handle and my birthday combined into one nice, easy for my horrible memory to remember name. I love talking to people, but again, I'm horrendously shy about initiating contact.
...now that I have you all bored to tears and dozing off, I shall hypnotize you into doing my bidding and conquer the world! *DISCIPLINED WITH BRICKS* ♫They're Candy, they're Candy and the Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain, Brain--NARF!♪

Date: 2008-09-21 08:28 pm (UTC)Sorry for taking so long to reply again -_-Well, the whole Jesus thing is more of a Christmas event, but putting that aside. *chuckle* I'll see if I can find a place to get them out-of-season and if I ever get a chance to possibly visit I'll bring some for you.. hopefully they'll survive the trip. Sis goes to college in Missouri(Misery according to someone who lived there :p), so it's plausible for a visit?
Same here
the only music I don't like is the stuff that curses meaninglessly, if there's a good reason for it it's fine though, and rap (songs are poetry, rap started out as bad poetry)Songs create images, and lyrics seem to help with the images more for me. Some instrumentals work for me, but usually not. Sometimes the lyrics just help make the music more powerful.
I think you'd really like Bleach because of it, they really have the musical angle
and almost every other toodown, it just takes a bit to really get into it.The crow in ya lol
I've only gotten up the nerve to be more outgoing recently, mostly prefer to stay @ home and read. Glad the internet's here to save me from being a complete loner ^_^
