Corrupting my sister via video games!
Dec. 23rd, 2008 11:36 pmA couple nights ago, my sister suggested that we go to this Vietnamese restaurant that opened recently at the mall. So the four of us loaded up into the car, and off we went! We had stir-fried noodles. Dad had beef, and us girls had the chicken, and we each got an eggroll. It was really tasty! Plus, our dinner conversation is, as always, probably quite frightening to the people around us. There's a reason why we should not be allowed out in public without supervision *laugh*
Then Bug and I went to see The Tale of Despereaux at the theatre. Yay for free movies since Bug works there! \o/ I was a little unsure, but once it got going? It was a surprisingly charming little movie. The animation is incredible, and the characters are just so cute :3 I must read this book now.
Our family tradition is to open a couple of presents on Christmas Eve. Bug and I always get pajamas (suitable for lounging about and opening presents), and we usually open our presents to each other. But since I'm sticking around to help with closing tomorrow, I'll be at work until five-ish, and Bug works at five-thirty, we did Christmas Eve tonight.
I gave Mom her first season of Big Bang Theory, and she was pleased. I gave Dad his complete Far Side collection, and an hernia to go with it. I think he liked it, though! (The books, not the pulled muscles.) And I finally got to give Bug the Nintendo DS that I think she knew she was getting XD I held up the games I got her, and told her she could pick one. Please note that they were all wrapped.
SHE PICKED PROFESSOR LAYTON.
(The other two games under the tree are Pokemon Pearl and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.)
We went through the first few puzzles upstairs in the living room, and now we're both in my room. I'm at my desk (obviously), and she's sprawled out on my bed. I have the Layton walkthrough open so I can more or less spoon-feed her the answers. I'm reading her the hints first, and then she's checking her answers. We're having fun! :D She thinks Luke is adorable, by the way ^___^
It really hasn't hit me yet that tomorrow is Christmas Eve. I dunno...just haven't been swimming in the holiday spirit as of late. Maybe it's because I used to work nights, and would drive home amidst the lights on houses and things. Or maybe it's because I have a bajillion things to worry about right now, I don't know. But...yeah. It's almost Christmas.
...and in closing, I love my sister.
GAME: *makes the Puzzle Noise*
BUG: *deadpans* Oh. A puzzle. Didn't see that coming.
