All righty, so here's the deal. There's this challenge going at work in conjunction with Live Healthy America. It's a way to try and encourage people to get in shape and lose weight and things. If you reach certain benchmarks, you can win prizes (mostly gift-cards, but hey, who doesn't like a gift-card!) And I'ma participating.

Well, I figured that Treadmill Time would also be a good time to watch some of my backlogged anime. Because I have a LOT of it that I just haven't had time or motivation to watch yet. And as I am hopelessly indecisive, I'ma putting it to a totally asinine poll! Got five of the series I haven't watched yet on here. So what's your rec?

[Poll #1330723]

Today's temperature hovered mostly around a balmy zero degrees, with some snow in the late afternoon. Hmm, winter~

Escaflowne. You must watch it. It will blow you away. After the last episode wrapped up, I had to remind myself to breath. And that still happened the second time I watched the series. Yes, I've watched it twice... it's -that- good. The action, drama and emotion are intense and they drew me in.

I want to watch it through to the end. That's why it's on the list! I've tried a couple of times, but never made it past the second episode *is a heathen like that, yo*

I have a leaning toward AL, even though I haven't -watched- it I enjoyed reading it, Escaflowne is good too but mechy, and DNAngel is a kind of detective-thief story (the thief being the good guy, as they are) so that's a good choice too but... haven't watch the other two soo..

Then again, I did like AL because of two main reasons, crazy (and rather creepy) professor, and the fighting xP While it had interesting characters and is generally up-beat.

Escaflowne on the otherhand I enjoyed more because of it's characters interaction and the DRAMA! in it, because it's a bigger part in it than the actual fighting robots focus-wise. The two are completely different in almost every single way.

DNAngel is cute, fun!serious stuff but I don't remember much about it since I didn't -watch or read the whole thing-. I did think it had some rather down-beat scenes too but it was generally "fun" rather than "sad" but then that might just be how it is at the beginning

That's best I can help xP

I want to watch all of these eventually. It's just a matter of what order to watch them in :D Angelic Layer is old-school CLAMP, which were a lot of my early fandoms because I just loved their stuff back then... *s-still has Holic and Tsubasa on my to-read list*

I appreciate the thoughts, though! They all sound like series I'm going to enjoy! \o/

I've had so many of these series for ages. I just need a bit of motivation to watch them, and this challenge (and me getting on the treadmill) is going to be that motivation!

Oh, Fyli, you and your phantom thieves ^_~ ♥

Oooh! If you stumble across any recipes that look tasty-but-healthy, I'd love to hear about them! I'm actually taking this seriously. Even switching to...gulp...DIET POP *weeps*

Go with Escaflowne! I've been meaning to get into the original series ever since [adult swim] aired the movie, since there's so much more to the storyline.

Shakugan no Shana's another great series, with two seasons so far. And where live action's concerned, I'm totally on a PGSM kick, can't you tell? xD

Good luck with your exercise! If you like anime music, bet this will give you a new crop of songs to rock out to on the treadmill.

Unless there is more voting by tomorrow morning, I'll be starting Escaflowne up. But we shall see what transpires between now and then~ *deludeeeed*

Right now I'm just trying to get through the stuff I have on DVD. I have a bunch of stuff downloaded that I haven't watched either, including PGSM XD And at some point I want to marathon the last three seasons of Sailor Moon :3

Thank you! =D If I reach any big milestones, I will post them here!

You've got a lot of really awesome anime in that list. Escaflowne was the first anime series I ever watched. It's pretty damn good. The unfortunate thing is that it was meant to be a 36 episode series. So the first 12 are amazingly well done; the last twelve feel a little rushed and they skip a bit, but still very well worth the time. Also, the movie is worth watching tho it is basically a watch-24 episode-anime-in-90-minutes affair. Personally I think Allan is hot and he's much more hotly drawn in the movie so that may have something to do with it.

I've only seen about the first twelve episodes of Spiral, but it was damn intriguing. A friend copied some discs of it for me but I'm not sure if she gave me the whole thing. Should finish. Quite addicting once you start watching.

Just watched DNAngel a few weeks ago. Excellent series! A lot of really awesome visuals and a stunning plot. Can't say enough good things about it. It's like a tame version of the series, Mouse.

Haven't heard of Angelic Layer, but I have watched most of Abenobashi. First started watching it in English, but the southern accents are horrid. Then switched it to Japanese with subtitles. Slightly better, but it's that dialect of Japansese that's equivalent to the English southern accent. Eventually had to stop watching it, because of ears under seige. Just thought I'd warn ya. It might come out better for ya if the sound of the treadmill covers it up.

So really, when it comes down to it. Watch 'em all! Hehehe. KABOOOM

A lot of these were picked up on recommendation (or on sale). A couple of friends said Escaflowne was amazing. I'd...been having trouble getting passed the second episode. But I just finished the fourth one, and Escaflowne just turned into a dragon. I am suddenly intrigued :3

[livejournal.com profile] ammchan suggested Spiral. Watched a few episodes, was intrigued, got sidetracked, never got back to it. That...tends to happen a lot with me, as I am easily distracted by shiny obj-- *wanders off*

Spiral is a good choice if you like good mystery anime series...plus, the characters and the plot are awesome, as well as the art in general. :D

Escaflowne is awesome, too and DNAngel...well, I'd recommend manga more than anime because anime totally steered away from the manga and kinda ruined it. >.>

I am now four episodes into Escaflowne. It's...actually starting to draw me in :D

Personally, I voted for Angelic Layer, even though I haven't watched it. I heard it was great, and it was extremely similar character wise to Cardcaptor Sakura, like Tomoyo and Sakura, and Cardcaptor Sakura was just so precious. But Spiral is a mystery anime,a nd I know how much you love those XD And you know my take on DN angel :|

Good luck dearie~

(PS I'm hoping ot buy Princess Tutu today XD )

I was a fairly die-hard CLAMP fan for a while, and Cardcaptor Sakura was one of my earlier fandoms, as well as the fandom that brought me over to LJ. Old-school CLAMP stuff is amazing. And at some point I'll probably make myself sit down and just read Tsubasa and Holic ^^;;

Thank you! AND YES! TUTU IS AMAZING AND YOU WILL LOVE IT!

I'm kinda ehh about all of those animes, mainly because the endings were a let down to me. Escaflowne and Spiral both had good plot though from different genres, fantasy and suspense/supernatural respectively, but the endings left much to be desired. Angelic Layer was cute, but standard "BATTLE IN AN ARENA OMG!!!". Its saving grace was it had quite a few interesting characters.

Obviously I say Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi because it is on crack and these poor youngsters are thrust into a world of cracktastic fantasy. I never got to finish it though so I can't say with certainty if it'll be good. :)

Aww, bad endings make me go sadface ;o; But that's why we have fanfiction! To amend those endings that make us go "Wait...WHAT??" But half the fun is getting there in the first place~

Angelic Layer...I have a soft spot for old-school CLAMP, back in my early fandom days, the days of CCS and MKR and the like ♥ *nostaligaaaaa*

*giggles* I've watched Furi Kuri and half of Excel Saga (so far), so crack does not frighten me. I enjoy it! o/

Hehe, the only anime that I've seen part of on that list was Abenobashi, the others I've heard about, but I can't find subs (dubs have a bad tendancy to make me cringe in pain at voices >.<) but Abenobashi, I remember watching with my anime club at college, and we could only watch the first few. Evidentally later they get so etchi that we could watch them while we were at school heh, and the stuff we did watch started to lean pretty far in that direction too.

I'm both a dubbie and a subbie. Generally, I prefer subs, but there are some dubs that are quite near and dear to my cold, tar-blackened little heart~ *puts Furuba on a pedestal and admires it*

I just figure that if I'm going to be jogging, I should try to get through all these series. I've had some of them laying around for quite a while. I paid for 'em, I should watch 'em! I have heard, though, that Abenobashi is quite a trip ^^;;
