♫Grapefruit diet~♫
Jan. 20th, 2009 10:17 pmI feel like I'm on a fruit diet as of late. Been eating a lot of apples, an orange here and there, the occasional banana...oh, and carrots. No, carrots aren't fruit, but I've been eating a ton of them! I'm a snacker by habit, and I have not yet broken the habit, so I just changed what I'm snacking on :D
So the big topic of the day is, of course, the inauguration. I hear a lot of people saying that they'll forever remember where they were and what they were doing at the moment Barack Obama was sworn in as President. And I suppose I can count myself amongst those numbers: I was at work, making pizza. This led to some of us discussing where we were and what we were doing when Obama won the election. I remember this also: I was in the downstairs family room, bouncing around and clapping my hands like a total ninny.
Then I went upstairs and found the sixteen McCain signs in our yard.
We watched Obama's address--my parents DVR'd it. Say what you will about him, but that man can speak. Mom actually wants to know if Michelle ever wins an argument *laugh* And the entire crowd, as they showed faces...so intent on everything he was saying. And such a huge crowd, too! Good luck to you, President Obama. You have a difficult job ahead of you, sir, and I do not envy you for it.
In other news, my sister is coming home for a long weekend on Friday, and she and I are going to get Mom started on one of the Nancy Drew computer games. We've told her about them, and she's expressed an interest in giving one a try. Bug and I discussed it, and we decided that Treasure in the Royal Tower was the best starting one. Because it's an awesome game.
Tomorrow is my day off. Plans include putting laundry away, jogging/watching more Escaflowne, and writing. And also maybe rewatching a few episodes of A Haunting. Productivity, thy name is not Candy.

Date: 2009-01-21 05:06 am (UTC)Our neighbor's had McCain signs, however on election day they were pitched by Anti-Abortion signs.
I dunno. I'm amused by it.

Date: 2009-01-21 03:04 pm (UTC)We were amused. Except my dad was a bit stunned to find them all stacked on the porch the next morning. I left him a note on the coffee pot :3

Didn't envy the Secret Service though. Those are some huuuuuuge ( and I mean Huuuuuuge ) crowd. Mental nail-biting that must have been.
Their wee kids with the coats and ribbons are so cute.

Date: 2009-01-21 03:06 pm (UTC)He knows them so well when it's time for him to speak that I'm betting he has a major hand in writing his own speeches, if he doesn't outright pen them all himself.
I think most people had that little fear in the back of their minds. There are enough idiots still out there to make it a possibility. But they showed the new Presidential limo with one of the doors open--that door had to be at least two inches thick. They're taking it seriously, which makes me very happy.
The little one was having trouble sitting still during the concert *laugh*
(apologies for working blue...)
Date: 2009-01-21 05:37 am (UTC)Also, you watch A Haunting too?! I freakin' LOVE that show. I'll tell you the plot right now:
* family moves into a brand new house, everything is lovely
* weird shit goes down
* family tries to do some sort of occult thing to cleanse the house
* weird shit stops for a while, but continues stronger than ever
* priest/psychic/holy person is called in and fixes everything
* family moves out and still lives in fear
And yet, every time, I watch it when L&O isn't on TNT.
Working blue does not bother me :D
Date: 2009-01-21 03:11 pm (UTC)I picked it up in Wal-Mart on DVD out of curiosity--it's really cheesy, but I sort of fell in love with it, in spite of all its relative stupidity XD And yes, that is pretty much the exact summary of almost every episode z(^o^)b
*whew!*
Date: 2009-01-21 07:15 pm (UTC)It is stupid, yes, but it's so cheesy! ... and it sorta gives me nightmares. But then again, Doctor Who did that too in 04. Twice.
