Well, I feel better now!
Feb. 19th, 2009 07:24 pmAll right, confession time: I haven't been talking about weight numbers as much this week because the scale really hasn't been moving. At first I thought that skipping exercise on Saturday (when I went out with Kat and Rach) plus slipping a bit on my diet was the cause, so I worked a bit harder on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Well, it's now Thursday. I weigh in tomorrow. I hauled ass yesterday, and more or less no change. Even though I know plateaus are a normal part of the process, it's a bit sad-making, since I feel like I've been trying really hard. I mentioned it at dinner tonight, and my parents gave me the "this is normal" talk. Then Mom made a comment which almost made me slap myself in the forehead in a Homer Simpson-esque fashion and go "D'OH!"
She said, "By the way, you're breaking out a bit. You know weight can fluctuate on your period, right?"
(My skin has cleared up a LOT since I started this whole process. But I always break out at That Time of the Month. It's pretty much my body's hormonal way of sticking a giant flashing neon sign to my face that says "I AM BLEEDING. APPROACH WITH CAUTION.")
So with that in mind, I hit the internets to do a bit of research--I've been doing a lot of research lately XD And I got happy confirmation. It's apparently very normal for women to put on anywhere from 1-8 pounds of pure water-weight around and during That Time. A lot of women (I'm reading about it on a Q&A forum-type site) are also saying that the extra water-weight goes away on its own after a few days.
I think I'm still within a pound or so of where I was last week, so I'm actually doing quite well. So after I finish this, I'm going to go exercise so that ideally, by this time next week, there'll be a LOT of difference :D
I'm current stuck on the song Koe, the closing theme from the third Fatal Frame game. I stumbled across the title somewhere, and since I love music, I thought I'd look it up and give it a listen. It's a really awesome song! *makes note to look up lyrics*
Oh, and I wrote last night! Just a little--like, maybe three hundred words. A couple of paragraphs. But that's more than I've done in the last couple of weeks, so yay! At this rate, I'll have all my WIPs finished by Christmas!
Three weeks until the Illinois trip!

Date: 2009-02-20 03:07 am (UTC)And I know it's normal to plateau during the process. But it's really nice to have an actual physical explanation for it that says, "This is why, and next week it's all going to melt off" :D
*snuggles back* Weight lifting is your friend. Takes twenty minutes, can do it anywhere, hand-weights aren't terribly expensive, and it burns a crap-ton of calories ^__^
