Same-sex marriage is legal in Vermont.

Only thing I'm going to point out (as a couple of comments on the article already have) is that here in Iowa, it was not by a narrow majority. It was a unanimous decision by the State Supreme Court that ruled that because no one could provide any constitutionally sound reason to deny GLBT persons the right to marry (i.e. religion does not count), to deny them that right is illegal discrimination under the state constitution. Nothing narrow about a unanimous vote :)

I got sad when I read the comments about Iowa, so I've stayed away from them (I personally get upset when people who have never met me say I'm going to burn in hell for falling in love for fuck's sake). However, I was so excited when I saw that it passed with over 2/3 majority.

I've been avoiding a lot of it as well for that same reason. It makes me sad to think that there are so many close-minded people in the world. But this was an amazing victory!

Though we're gonna have to watch the state legislature =/ They're probably gonna try to pull some crap and ban it cause they're stupid like that.

But if they do make a law, can't the Supreme Court overturn it as unconstitutional? That's what happened before--they struck down the law. Just a thought. Let's just let the victory be what it is for now, and worry about what happens later when it comes.
