Another week left...
Apr. 17th, 2009 07:25 amMy first day in the pharmacy is officially a week from today. Then I'm working two more shifts back in my current position, and after that...I do not know just yet. But I shall find out soon, I hope. I'm going to go find the Pharm. Manager after work to ask her about next week. Along a similar vein, my current coworkers are showing their true colors about this...
Yesterday morning, Chong decided to give me a talking-to about (basically) I was doing the wrong thing because everyone in the pharmacy is a two-faced bitch and I'm sensitive, so I really need to learn how to swallow stuff. Now, I am fairly sensitive, as many of you know from my flailing LJ posts about stupid things, but if she knew how many retorts I swallow working back there with her and LJ, she would be floored. I've gotten very good at that.
And my interactions with the pharmacy ladies has never given me any indication of bitchiness, although I know there's a difference between wandering back on one's lunch break, and actually being there in the thick of things. But we shall see. I can deal with it either way.
Then (in the same breath as telling me I'm sensitive) she proceeds to tell me something that, if true, was definitely NOT meant for my ears. The way she described it, I was probably going to lose my job when the manager was hired, but current Manager went to bat for me, so I got the transfer. Now, had this thought occurred to me? Yes. I think I actually said as much to
kaitodoushi--that maybe there was an underlying "need the hours for the manager."
So I go home and talk to my mom, who in many more words said, "Those bitches are pretty much determined to ruin this for you, aren't they?" And I actually loved her logic: she thinks Chong is mad because I both applied for the manager's position AND took the pharmacy job...without telling her. And Chong and JL are both the sort of people who like to make everything their business, even when it isn't.
Mom also thinks that sooner or later, someone is going to have to come in and put their foot down on Chong, who has more or less run the department for the last seven or eight years. And according to rumor in some cases (i.e. JL, whose track record indicates that every word needs to be taken with an entire salt lick) and Chong herself in others, she has actually run out some previous managers. So it's actually a really good thing for me to be getting out of there before the shit hits the fan.
I do feel bad for
kaitodoushi, though. Because she's still going to be back there, and they're probably going to bitch about me to high heaven once I'm gone--or possibly before I'm gone but not around, because they're so sweet like that. Pfft~ Let's talk about being two-faced, dears.
Hell, JL once started to try and gossip to me about Kat--this was a long time ago, and I only recently mentioned it to Kat herself. I told JL that if she was going to say anything to me about Kat, it had better not go any further south than neutral, because I would not listen to it otherwise. She looked stunned. Me? Not wanting to listen to someone say negative things about my best friend? Apparently this is shocking.
BE STRONG, KATCHU~ ILU! And I'm just across the store!
I am excited, and I am also hoping I can get the materials to start on the certification soon. I have a year to do it, and I want to get it done as soon as possible. This is a great opportunity. I want to run with it and do the best I can!
I was so restless last night. I couldn't seem to do anything for more than five minutes before I'd need to go find something else to do XD And then I fell asleep really early. Like...ten or ten-thirty PM early, maybe a little after. It might be nice to start working nights again. Then I can stay up later!
...I have a meme to post, but I think I'd better do it on a separate post. Double post ahoy! *flies away*

Date: 2009-04-17 04:34 pm (UTC)But yeah, like I said, we still have shifts at night open and you can work nights, so there's no way they would have had to get rid of you.
And to be fair, our last manager really was pretty bad and wouldn't lift a finger in Chinese, but I doubt Chong or Ja Lee helped.

Date: 2009-04-19 01:46 am (UTC)I just updated my LJ with yesterday's version of the tale, which says that the plan was always to move me to another department when they moved in a manager. So I don't really know ~_~ I've stopped listening.
That's what I've heard from a couple sources, but yeah, Chong and JL probably didn't do much to help the situation.

Date: 2009-04-19 01:57 am (UTC)Well you know what? Screw whatever the "plan" was, they wanted you for this job and it's a better one and it pays better. So you win regardless.

Date: 2009-04-19 01:59 am (UTC)Exactly. And quite frankly, being a pharmacy tech might actually offer a better chance of an actual career than making pizzas does ~_~;;

Date: 2009-04-17 09:39 pm (UTC)Get through your week with a big grin cause you're leaving them and their two-faceness behind (mind you they never hid it well).

Date: 2009-04-19 01:50 am (UTC)I'm not sure when I'll be officially starting in the pharmacy. Chong said she thinks it might be around the first of May (which actually sort of makes sense), because that's how the old store manager used to do things. My mom said that she would guess it'll be at the start of the next pay period, which would be in another couple of weeks. So we'll see.
But yes, soon I'll be free of them unless I choose to wander back there. Which I might now and again, if only because they do make really good orange chicken *hides face*
