What a day!

Today actually went pretty well. Grabbed kaitodoushi, dropped Bug off at Barnes and Noble while we ran to the bank, picked her up, went and got gas, snagged a cappuccino at the gas station, and off we went!

The trip up was pretty uneventful, except for the roadwork. Remember, the Midwest has four seasons: winter, more winter, winter's not over yet, and CONSTRUCTION. It was a lot smoother coming back than going up, I will say--coming back, though, there was one spot where the speed limit was dropped to forty-five MPH...for about ten seconds.

We went inside with Bug and waited while she got her bag checked and stuff, and then Kat and I went to visit a butterfly garden. It was a lovely, lovely place. The blue morpho butterflies kept flying past us close enough to brush our clothes, and some butterfly tried to land on my sunglasses (which were perched on my head)...and wound up half-beating me on the head with its wings. I have a few pictures, might post them later.

Then we went to the mall, had lunch, and wandered around. We made another stop at Best Buy to check pricings, and then went back to the mall. A quick stop at Hy-Vee for something to drink, and we headed home. Once we rolled back into town we stopped at Arby's for dinner. One more stop at the gas station to refill the tank, and then I dropped Kat off and came home. Whoo!

Upon arriving at home, I drew masterful Layton fanarts and ordered a couple of DVDs online because they were cheaper there than at the store. Comparison shopping for the win! Now I'm just relaxing and hanging out.

The best thing heard today was actually at f.y.e. We're standing there, looking at some DVDs, and hear a couple of girls talking over by the Twilight stuff. And we hear this girl say, clear as a bell, "I just can't ship it." My face lit up, and Kat's face lit up...until we heard her say, "So can I bring it over to your house?" And we realized she was talking about something that needed to go in the mail.

Mom will be home from her business trip tomorrow, yay!


I really need to catch up with Detective Conan. We talked about it some today, and it was really fun. Working on "A Perfect Act" has made me really happy. I've got a couple other series I need to catch up on, too (Black Cat and Soul Eater, to name two), but that's at the top of my list.

On a semi-related note, tomorrow I'm planning on making a fandom list post and floating it as a header on this LJ. I'm debating on whether or not to leave it open as a perpetual request post because hey, I like to write stuff for my friends (and having it stuck at the top means the chances of me finishing stuff is much, much higher).

I used to live right outside of Chicago, and we drove back to West Virginia every summer and Christmas. 11 hours in the car. THERE WAS ALWAYS ROADWORK.

Iowa construction makes me sometimes think that during the night, they secretly tear up all the work they did that day so it will NEVER BE DONE. Because it is never, ever finished.
