I'll be getting [livejournal.com profile] healthycandy up to date again tonight. Been getting up early to go to the gym before work, which usually means I'm crashing a bit earlier (bearing in mind that "earlier" for me equates to around midnight-ish, maybe a little before, so I suppose it is relative), which means I'm sort of neglecting to do important things. Feel free to spork me if I'm not keeping on top of it.

I did notice something yesterday while I was at work. Several of my coworkers are also participating in LiveHealthy, and so we keep each other abreast (this is where my sister would go, "Heh, you said breast!") of our progress. Well...the number on my scale hasn't really moved much in the last week.

BUT!

When I ducked into the bathroom, as I was finishing up, I noticed a very interesting fact: my work shirt was looser across the stomach. Like...previously, it was a teensy bit snug. Now it's loose enough that I can actually pinch part of it between my fingers and tug and have leeway.

So...the narrowing process seems to have started. And if it hasn't, I don't want anyone to tell me so. But the number on the scale has barely budged. Here's what I think: I've been doing a lot of strength training at the gym. Those weight machines are FANTASTIC and I love them ♥

The personal trainer told me how it actually works, too. When you really exercise your muscles, they actually start to entropy a bit - they break down because the body wants to conserve fat. Well, after you stop exercising, the body then rebuilds those muscles, using the fat to do so. Which is why weight-lifting is so effective - the calorie-burning effects can last for four to six hours after you put the weights down.

So I think I'm starting to build up some muscles. That would explain why the clothes are fitting better (fat's going away), but the weight isn't moving (muscle is replacing the fat). I figure it'll start to balance out soon enough and the scale will be nice and get lower. In the meantime, ANYONE WANT TO ARM WRESTLE? 8D

...okay, dinner time now~

Even better is the little story I have to post today :D Will be up shoooortly~ And I agree - I'd rather (technically) be "overweight" and have it be all muscle than jiggle \o/
