candyland: (what the duck)

All right, so as previously mentioned, my scale has been resisting the urge to move for the last week or so, despite the fact that my work shirts are starting to feel a bit looser near the middle. Well, how about this...I know this should be on my other account, but I have to share it here!

This morning it was snowing, so I decided not to go to the gym. In the end, I actually didn't work out at all. I weighed myself around seven-thirty this morning (no change at ALL), I had a breakfast that was slightly bigger than usual (in terms of approximate calorie count), and then I spent most of the day lounging around, playing Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks.

All in all, I consider it a day well spent.

Around two o'clock, I headed in to take a shower. On a whim, I hopped back on the scale.

I'm suddenly down a full two pounds. Actually, a little over two pounds.

...now thoroughly baffled, I hopped in the shower. As I was washing my hair, I got to thinking about it, and realized that my scale has given me odd readings in the past (one time notoriously clocking me in at thirty pounds less than I'd been the previous day). So I figured eh, scale's being stupid, and after I got out of the shower I hopped on the scale once more.

To find that I'd dropped ANOTHER half a pound.

Not that I'm complaining, but...WHERE DID IT GO? I knew I'd had it fifteen minutes earlier!

...then I had lunch and went to work, where I finished up some continuing education stuff because we were very slow. I have to do twenty credits of CE every two years for my certification. Got certified on December 28th. Have six CE credits done already :D

So yes. Good, life is~ *thumbs up*

Sunday. Work is kicking my ass up one side and down the other. I haven't written in about a month.

Um, clothes can add a couple of pounds. And how you stand on the scale can shift the readings. We had this scale that if you leaned forward on, it would knock ten pounds off.

When I weighed this morning I was wearing a camisole and my undies (choo choo, here comes the TMI train, y/y?) And I know what you mean about the scales--but this scale's pretty steady. I tried the rocking back and forth thing, and the most I ever got it to move was 0.2 lb in either direction.

Wish my scale would knock ten pounds off, though... *dreeeeeams*

One thing about exercise - it does make your retain water. It isn't unusual to not move/gain a bit while you're exercising. If you take a day off, it isn't unusual either for your body to drop that extra water weight. ^^

Don't get too upset if you plateau on the weight bit. Especially if you clothes continue to get looser. Even aerobic exercise can build muscle, which is denser than fat. And a higher muscle ratio means a higher metabolism, so you do burn more calories.

*pedant service! :)*

I'm doing weights and aerobic on alternating days. Trainer said that should have maximum results.

Everyone is being so awesome and helpful! *hugs*
