Update time get!
Mar. 23rd, 2010 11:08 am...right, so here's a brief run-down of the past several days :D
kaitodoushi and I had our Epic Weekend of Awesome. Our plan was simple: run a few errands, then sit down and play as many video games as possible. So first we went and got munchies, and then we went to GameStop and picked up our copies of HeartGold (for Kat) and SoulSilver (for me). NOSTALGIAAAAAAAA~ ♥
We had three games in progress as of Saturday morning (Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, and Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth...wow, lots of colons in those names...). Our goal was to finish two of them.
AND WE DID! We finished Paper Mario late Saturday afternoon. Only took, what...eight months? >_>;; Yes, we're just that awesome. Best part was that it only took one try to knock out the Big Bad. Which was good, because if I hadn't, I don't know if I could have sat through that excruciatingly long cut-scene again. But overall, good game!
We then finished AAI first thing Sunday morning. All I have to say is this: OH MY GOD :D :D :D After thinking it over, I place this as my second favorite game in the entire Ace Attorney series. It didn't quite unseat Trials and Tribulations, but it came damn close. If I get talking about this game, I will probably not stop for a while. We'll save that for a separate post XD
We also tackled more of Kingdom Hearts, and actually got close to finishing! Well, finishing Sora's story, at least. We just have to get past the final boss fights, and then the game is beaten, although not complete. We want to play Riku's story as well so Kat can get more Organization XIII stuff for her
fanfic100 claim XD
We also watched a couple MST3K eps (next time we have a free weekend, Kat, we need to marathon!) and ate way too much junk food XD My diet is crying. I have decided that for the moment, I do not care :D
The weekend led into...
It was so weird...we were actually ready to go ON TIME for once (usually we agree that we're going to go somewhere fifteen minutes before we actually want to, and that gets us there on time). Kat and I left my house right on time, and Rach was ready and waiting for us when we got there. Got to dinner early, just as we'd planned (HuHot, delicious Mongolian grill!), and got downtown with plenty of time to spare.
The show itself was really very good. They even took my least favorite song from the original movie ("Gaston"), and made it into one of my favorite numbers from the show with choreography that was a bit reminiscent of the bottle dance from Fiddler on the Roof. "Be Our Guest" was suitably big and flashy (and had a kickline!), the costumes were incredible, the vocals were generally solid, and the whole thing...was funny. There was a LOT more humor in the stage show than there was in the original movie, and it worked. Our favorite was this one...
*Belle walks on stage wearing a very pretty dress*
BEAST: *gapes*
COGSWORTH: *whispers* Say something about the dress*
BEAST: *after an excruciatingly long pause* ...it's purple!
After the show we went and got dessert, and our favorite waitress was working at Perkin's, which always makes for an awesome night. We saw her when we walked in and waved and the hostess said, "...I'm guessing you want to sit in her section?" She got off work while we were there, and came to chat with us for a good twenty minutes. It was fun. She's such an awesome lady :D
The story behind that is that when Kat and I worked in the same department, if work was really stressful, we would sometimes go out after we clocked out and get something to eat. Frequently we would bring our DSes along for the ride (played through a good chunk of two Ace Attorney games that way!), and she was there a lot. She'd recognize us since we were wearing our work clothes, and we wound up striking up conversations. And now we look for her every time we walk in!
So all in all...good show, great weekend, superb gaming, and far too much food for my waistline to be happy ^^;;
...and finally, I just beat That One Boss (aka Whitney, the third gym leader) in Pokemon SoulSilver. In three turns. With a level twenty Machop. Life is good ^_____^ (BTW,
kaitodoushi? I caught two Dittos (if you need/want one, love, then the second one is yours), and am breeding our starters for great justice!
