From the work files...
May. 4th, 2010 09:35 pmSunday was what could loosely be called a "bad day at work."
My main job is the pharmacy, of course, but if they need help in salad bar and I have hours to spare, I sometimes will pull a shift back there once a week-ish. So I was scheduled to work on Sunday from nine to four. Not bad, yay hours, all is well, ja? Well, then my manager asked me if I could come in at seven AM instead because the other ladies who were supposed to work both had confirmations to go to. I said sure, no problem, and assured her that I would check my hours and make sure I left before I went over forty. OVERTIME IS EVIL...and I don't want to get people in trouble ;_;
So it was supposed to be me, another lady who's worked back there plenty o' times (both of us in at seven AM), and a girl who had never worked back there before (in at ten). We got the salad bar done and everything put together. Then at around 9:15-ish, salad bar gets paged for a phone call. As Coworker goes to answer it, I think to myself "Huh...wonder if the other girl is calling in...nah, no way."
Um. Yes way. So there's two of us there. On Sunday. Arguably the busiest day of the week.
Luckily they'd made a bunch of stuff for us on Saturday, so all of the salads were done, and half the fruit. But there was still a LOT of stuff that needed to be done. So while she takes her break, I start frantically cutting oranges, pineapple, and apples. We'd agreed that we were only going to cut what we absolutely needed, figuring that Manager would understand. And the list just kept getting longer, and longer!
I clocked out at 2:25 in the afternoon. We hadn't even started veggies yet, which I felt bad about - I was hoping we'd have fruit done before I left. But my total hours for last week came to 39.83, by the way, so yay for good timing. Turns out that my coworker was there until 5:30. That's over ten hours @_@ I felt really bad, but...there really wasn't anything I could do. They're really trying to cut down on overtime, and I don't want to get anyone in trouble.
...on the bright side, my Salad Bar manager continues to think highly of me for staying as late as I could and working my ass off 8D She's a nice lady, and she actually apologized to me for everything going pear-shaped, even though it wasn't her fault. And she was fine with the fact that we didn't cut more than we needed. There just wasn't time.
And yesterday could also qualify as a bad day at work XD Mondays usually average around the 400 mark, and are easily the busiest day in the pharmacy week. When I left last night, we were at 458 and counting. I clocked out ten minutes late. A couple of the other techs stayed way past their clock-out times (we're on a staggered schedule so everyone's not leaving all at once). Crazy, crazy, crazy day, though not quite as bad as the day we broke 600. That was after a holiday weekend *wuz ded*
As soon as I hit post on this entry, I'm going to go call
kaitodoushi to make sure she's awake because she's coming over to play more Persona 4, yay! At some point, I need to post our sporkings of various games. I've got ones from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, AAI, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, and now Persona. Seriously - I'm enjoying P4, but...it's so sporkable!
...oh yeah, and I finally started my next fandom for
100fandomhell. POSTING GET (soon) \o/
NEXT ENTRY I SHALL TALK ABOUT QUILTING! :3c
