I hate getting sick. But Emma is officially my hero. See, I had to go downstairs and drop something off at her apartment (and after three flights of stairs, the world became very fuzzy...), and she ended up giving me some "stronger generic version of Nyquil." I went back upstairs, curled up in bed, and about half an hour later, I was out cold. Slept like a baby right up until my alarm went off at 8:15 this morning. My stomach isn't hurting anymore--now it's just empty. I didn't eat at all yesterday because I wasn't sure if I trusted my stomach to keep things down. I'm still kinda achey, but otherwise, I think I'm okay now.

Made me feel really good, though, when one of my friends asked if I was really sicked. I'm thinking, "Does he want me to describe what the puke looked like or does he just want to come over and watch me stagger back and forth between my room and the bathroom? I promise, I probably look like I'm drunk!" Time for a public service announcement: Steve, sweetie, if I miss class--especially one of Jerry's classes--you know I'm either sick, or I've got some really pressing business elsewhere. Of course I was sick, you moron!

*bows* This has been a public service announcement. Doing my part to save the rainforest and all.

So I'm back in Music History, aka "The Class I Cannot Pay Attention In to Save My Soul." Sooooo I get to entertain myself. Figure now's as good a time as any to pull out some randomness I saw on someone else's LJ. Thought it might be interesting...

Look at your LJ interests list. If you have fewer than 50 interests, pick every fifth one, and explain it. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em.

Alto: I sing alto in choir. I'm the alto section leader. Altos rock the roof off!! In our choir, there's pretty much a core group of about five alto II's that can balance out the entire rest of the choir. I'm proud of my man-voice.

Broadway: My sister and I grew up on the Phantom of the Opera soundtrack with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman. This started a long-standing love-affair with the Broadway stage and songs for both of us. Our soundtrack collection now numbers probably into a couple dozen. We've also seen Riverdance, Rent, Les Miserables, Chicago...I get to see The Lion King in March, while she's going to get to see Wicked.

Comedy: I love to laugh. Love it, love it, love it. Anything that can make me laugh is good in my book--one of the reasons I love Whose Line is it Anyway? so much.

Euphonium: My band instrument. Never heard of it? Don't feel bad--no one has. It's low brass, a tenor version of the concert tuba. Best instrument in the band. Just don't tell the trumpet-players that, they tend to get offended. BTW, I am a former trumpet player, so I have every right to make those jokes.

Fruits Basket: My first *real* anime, and the one that started a most enjoyable tradition. Up until Furuba, I was adrift on the commercialized anime--Sailor Moon, Pokemon *shudder*, DBZ, etc. Then [profile] bishonen_girl gave me a Furuba sampler DVD with two episodes, and from there I was a goner. This led me into the world of the real stuff. Our traditional summer "Up All Night Watching Anime" party actually spawned from us figuring we would sit up all night and watch the entire Fruits Basket series in one go. We heart Furuba!!

Kaitou Kid: Ah, Kid. Our favorite Phantom Thief. Awesome character, fun concept, and fanfiction writer's dream. I mean, a bishie/magical thief who wears a white tux and monocle for a disguise? He can imitate anybody, mimick voices, dodge mops (oh, Aoko...)...yeah, pretty sure he's the coolest character on the planet.

Meitantei Conan: My current obsession. I don't know why it's so addictive, but it is. [profile] msbbt told me to watch it originally. I did. I got interested. I did some research. I pulled her over to the Dark Side, mostly by telling her about Heiji/Kazuha and getting her hooked on them. She's all about secondary pairings. There's actually a town in Japan (can't remember the name of it) that has life-sized statues of the characters. It's the hometown of Gosho Aoyama, the creator. Someday I want to go there and get a picture of me kissing the Shinichi statue ^________^

Otaku: ME!! I'm really getting all the good ones on this list, aren't I? *laugh* All the anime ones, at least...anyhoo, for those who don't know, otaku is the term frequently used in the States to describe an anime/manga freak. Meet me and some of my friends, and you'll know what I'm talking about.

Sailor Moon: My first anime, back before I even knew what anime was. I'd heard about this show, so I watched it one day, thought it was kind of cool, and got hooked. This was back in about fourth grade, when I was too young to realize that it was from Japan, dubbed, or editted. I have since seen the light, but I can't forget my roots, now can I?

Writing: My favorite hobby. I was aware of the existence of fanfiction waaaaaaay back from the start, back in my Sailor Moon days. It wasn't until I was in high school, though, that I actually tried penning some of my own. Thanks to ff.net, it's become a very enjoyable pasttime. And I've met (online, at least) a ton of awesome people and writers on there--much love, you guys!! And LJ is a good place to get with it as well--I'm doing a total of three challenges for two different communities right now. I've got two couples on [profile] 30_kisses, and I'm halfway done writing out my drabbles for [profile] 12daysofficmas. God bless the Internet, for it keeps even people with my level of utter nerdiness happy and with a place to hang out!!

Well, that killed about half of this class. *sigh* I'm hungry...well, time to go occupy myself for another half an hour until I can go eat. So very, very booooooored...yes, I'm whining. I know I am. But if you had to sit through this class, you would whine too, guaranteed or your money back.

Mom told me when I started college that I would hit junior year and be ready to be done with school. Why in the world does she have to be so, ya know, right all the damn time?!? She told me that when she got to her junior year of college, she and her friend were ready to quit school, run off, and become secretaries. Soooooooo...is it winter break yet?

Much love,
~ Candy-chan ^.^
