Still working my way through drabble requests (which are still open). Have the basis of two more fandoms for [livejournal.com profile] 100fandomhell. Am relatively happy about this :D

I did not get much sleep last night. Might go pass out a bit early tonight, with or without getting fics posted. Scribbled out some nice ideas earlier. I'm on a roll as of late! Totally gonna make my goal of thirty-five fandoms by my one-year! \o/

...I WANT THE MUD TO GO AWAY! I decided to be fancy today and wear my awesome knee-high high-heeled black hooker boots (I have a student who calls them that, every time I wear them), and when I'm stepping around the corner onto the sidewalk, I sink almost three inches into the mud. Grabbing paper towels to scrubs the mud off my boots was not how I envisioned the first few minutes of my morning at work.

In case you hadn't heard, LJ has decided to further bury itself by acting all surprised that people were upset about the fact that they tried to sneak that announcement past everyone, and then insinuating that the uproar over last night's "hidden" bombshell about Basic Accounts being eradicated was a question of tone *facepalm* That's almost as funny as the guy who made the actual announcement comment whining that when someone posted a comment explaining why they were upset, it was a "personal attack" and that things were "getting brutal." Obviously, someone didn't do their research.

At the moment, I don't see how this will affect me too much. I've got this journal, and I've got [livejournal.com profile] candyfics, and right now that's all I need. But the overwhelming amount of idiocy in the SUP statements just blows my mind. Apparently nothing was learned from the explosions of last summer, despite assertions that they had.

...did someone send me a pic-text on my cell? It's a number I don't recognize, from the same area code as where my parents live and my university is. The subject line is "Look" and that's it. No ID. I don't know who sent it--don't have the number programmed in, and I'm not going to open it without knowing who it's from. If no one claims it, I'll be deleting it without looking. Call me paranoid. Not trying to be weird or anything--just want to know who it's from.

Oh, and I finished listening to the LibriVox recording of The Hound of the Baskerville, which I greatly enjoyed, and I am four chapters away from being done with The Sign of the Four, which I am also enjoying. It took me a bit longer to get into Sherlock Holmes than it did Arsene Lupin, but I am growing rather fond of them.

I think that's everything for now ^____^

Strangely, although I love Kaito and MK more than Shinichi ( and DC in general), to me Holmes is a much more interesting character than Lupin is. He (Holmes) is charming in a sarcastic sort of way, so yeah. A lot like Kaito, actually, with his talent for impersonation and disguise ( and that convenient lock-picking skill in The Greek Interpreter).

I liked Lupin better than Holmes, but as to Kaito vs. Shinichi...I like them both, and I tend to go in cycles as to which I like better. They both have their good and bad points. At the end of the day, I love them both ~♥♥♥

You really have to read Lupin in his native language in order to see just how snarky and sarcastic he is. And he does it in a POLITE manner even. Typical French~ ♥

So, if I want to make another request, I can? ^_^ Maybe help with 100fandomhell a little more? What fandoms would be good to request? I'm not sure of all you are interested in.

Meh with the lj changes. If I want to use something different, I already have a greatest journal set up. I can use that. Might not be a bad idea for fic and it might draw more people to it.

Have you considered googling the number? If it is a landline, you might just get an address and name.

Sure, go ahead! I'm slowly but surely trying to get those other requests done. At some point I'll haul 'em all over to [livejournal.com profile] candyfics, but for right now, just want to get caught up. I have a rough fandom list, (http://candy--chan.livejournal.com/246940.html) but some of them are series that I have only the barest familiarity with XD

I tried running the number through Google. Didn't get anything except sites that say they can tell you about the number if you punch it in. I'm not sure if I feel comfortable using such a site, though >_>;;

Sweet. Oooo! St. Tail! St. Tail! Meimi's mom teaching her gymnastics. Is there anything you'd like from St. Tail? A fic swap? I haven't written for it for ages and now I want to but have no ideas.

I'd probably open it because I'm curious.

Oooh, Saint Tail...hmm...I'll think on that. Haven't watched that series in ages XD That's the case for a lot of stuff, I've noticed :P

I did. The number is, in fact, from my old hometown. Didn't get a name, but it's encouraging that I know it's from someone there.

Honestly, I wasn't quite as upset about the latest bit of LJ wank. No, they shouldn't have made it a footnote, and I don't quite like the thought of either having ads or having to pay, and yet with the right layout the ads aren't bad and comparitively barely anyone that serious about LJ has a basic account anymore anyway. So I'm not gonna run around complaining this time.

I'm rather upset about the fact that it was hidden. If it had been something out in the open, with an honest explanation, it wouldn't have bothered me half as much as it does. I think they're shooting themselves in the foot, though.

And actually, the reason I first upgraded to Paid was because I'd found a really cool layout, but the ads messed it up. And to be fair, there are plenty of people who are serious about LJ who can't afford to have anything other than a basic account.

But yeah--the secrecy makes me angrier than the act itself. Especially after all the run-around about how they were going to do better than 6A and they will communicate with the users and all that XD

Yeah, true. I didn't even realize there had been a change and thought it was 6A again at first. For some reason actually telling us stuff seems to be hard for all of these people =/

Mine was for the icons. ICONZ!!!

Actually, you will still have access to the basic account, its just the new ones that don't. *shrug* I read the news yesterday and they flat out admit that it was a business decision and most people switch to the plus when they start a new account.

Like I said, I'm less angry about the actual action itself (though I do think they're shooting themselves in the foot in the long run), and more angry about the underhanded way in which it was "announced" and the condescending way they addressed it in the following [livejournal.com profile] news post. I'm not getting too involved in it--left my opinion on the post with everyone else, browsing the comments here and there, but until further word comes, I'm hanging back on this one.
