candyland: (stupid saddens me)

I don't have the links on me at the moment--I'll add them when I get home. But I have a question. This is more directed towards all the wonderful men on my f-list, mostly because I'm trying to get a grasp on this mindset. All the lovely ladies who I am blessed to poke via comments, I welcome all thoughts on this. Because it's sort of a "WTF?" thing, to my mind. So the question is...

Have you ever entertained the notion that it is somehow your right to go up to a random woman--a stranger--and ask if you can fondle/grope her breasts?

If yes, please advise D: Because I don't like it. And I don't get it.

*hops off soapbox*

ETA: The Post that started it all, and the one I was initially linked to.

I'm making it my mission to try and finish some of the "Now playing" games on my Backloggery. I finished one last night, The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. I dunno. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood or something, but I was rather underwhelmed. And the very final battle? [livejournal.com profile] kaitodoushi asked if I thought it was fun. I replied something to the effect of "I was thinking of a one-syllable word that started with the letters F and U. But it wasn't 'fun.'"

So now I'm working my way through Cooking Mama in an attempt to make sure I have all the recipes unlocked and that I've done them all at gold level, i.e. perfectly. I figure that qualifies as beating the game. And I also picked up my new Pokemon game (Explorers of Time)...and Cooking Mama 2. I will not start either of them until after I finish up Cooking Mama AND Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. Which I have one case left to play on. And then I have the other three games in the series. Must play more GHEY LAWYERS.

It's raining. A lot.

Middle school choir concert tonight. Will have more about it later. But I gotta run--time for class!

Nope. I don't follow MF. [livejournal.com profile] magic_truth linked me to a blog entry about it last night, and I've been reading. But now I'm going to go see what MF says...

Watches MF but only really bothers to read when the word Fanart pops up.

Who? How? What?! O_o

Only kind of bloke who'd do that as far as I can imagine would be someone really drunk. Or with social awareness problems or something.
That, and maybe boyfriends?

Edit: I'm guessing we're not including doctors and dancers and cosmetic surgeons and stuff.

*er h-... I mean pats.*

Phantom Hourglass felt very much like a shallow add-on/sequel to me, but it was still a good game in my humble opinion. Seems like the Zelda series has served as a "show-off" of recent ninty consoles than much else.

Watched the two first cases of PW on youtube the other night.
One word.
DOPE.

... okay, make that two:
DOPE. and BREASTS?!WTF!!O_o

Mia/Maya keelz me. D: *flees*

To Candy:
"Have you ever entertained the notion that it is somehow your right to go up to a random woman--a stranger--and ask if you can fondle/grope her breasts?"
...uh, no.
That's not even one of my secret phantasies, and god know how naughty my mind could be.^^;

To Dag: Well, I'm not allowed to touch your boobs and I don't plan to ask your permission for it...but I'm still allowed to glomp you in real life, ne?

And you know that resistance is futile in front of Mia's boobs of doom. ^___^

And for Phoenix Wright...

...I'm currently addicted, and in the beginning of the third game.
(Damn, I want more action between Miles and the dope)X

Thank you! I'm not against fantasizing--most people do it, and it hurts no one. But...yeesh, I don't want strange men walking up to me and asking me stuff like that.

I support glomping! \o/

You're farther along than I am. I'm just about done with the first game...but I got a bit distracted by shiny things other games. They're surprisingly addictive! And yes, ph34r Mia's b00bs XDD

To be honest, I've just discovered the (in)famous basic idea which had bring all the mess in meta.

Ok, I see where the guys were coming, and I don't think the basic idea is bad per se(I'm not talking about their... project, but the idea behind it. Sexuality mixed with innocence and respect, and free from guilt and suspicious feelings), but I don't think that this little utopia could work outside of very restrained groups with people knowing and trusting each other.

And, even if I'm all for talking about kinks and exploring sexuality, I prefer that we keep a bit of privacy around those matters. So yeah, their project... I'm not against it, but I don't condone it either, and I understood where their opponents are coming. ^^;

That beeing said, if I've not missed something, their stuff is based upon consent and freedom, so as long you're not wearing their badge, no one would bother you.
(Now, if everyone were responsible and honest, that would be enough but I don't think that this idea would remain in the boundaries proposed by the creators...and I could see creepy stalker harassing girls without their badge. ^^;)

"I support glomping! \o/"
I would fight for my right to glomp Dag. ^___^

"You're farther along than I am. I'm just about done with the first game..."
I'm not playing to the games per se, I'm watching the case on youtube. Even if the investigation part could be a bit boring, sometimes, the trials are always awesome. ^__^
And I adore the characters.

My other issue is that in the infamous post, he says something to the effect that women who didn't want to go along with it "just didn't get it." Whether or not that's how he intended it, that's how I (and many others) read it.

He also refers to it "melting away all the bad memories of high school" or something like that. Yeah. Completely oblivious to the fact that there are a lot of girls who suffered a great deal through high school because of boys who didn't understand or respect personal boundaries.

The idea itself isn't necessarily a bad one, but it should have stayed where it started--as something being done with a group of close-knit friends. It should not be expanded to complete strangers.

And that doesn't even begin to touch on the potential legal ramifications--it just takes one person who is offended at being asked to cry sexual harassment--and being asked that question does constitute harassment under US law--and that could get a LOT of people in trouble. Including the con.

I fight for my right to glomp my friends as well! Glomps for everyone! :D

...it's a lot more fun if you actually play it *laugh* Oh, and if you have some free time, Videogame Recaps has done the first two cases from the first game. They are HILARIOUS.

I've not read every details(to be honest, I don't like much to follow the massive wank on meta ), so I would give sthe benefice of doubt to both sides.

The basic idea seemed more genuine that anything else for me but I couldn't see it working on a large scale.
In fact...
"The idea itself isn't necessarily a bad one, but it should have stayed where it started--as something being done with a group of close-knit friends. It should not be expanded to complete strangers."
It's exactly my thoughts.

"...it's a lot more fun if you actually play it "
I dunno, for me, it's like watching a courtroom drama anime, with twist, prosecutors putting proof outside their leeves, surprise witness, shameless melodramatic stuff(ok, and Mia's boobs, did I mention Mia's boobs?)...

Once the setting is done, the mystery and the trial around him are pretty entertaining by themselves.
Without playing, I've still lots of fun, and at least, I didn't need to waste time and to play the same case again and again, until I found the right evidence to use. XD

Beeeeewbs~. *shot*

Yeah, am with you lot on the "should be a small group thing only". I think it's been done before too, in various forms, with various success. And usually drugs involved. *shot*

Just. As a con movement? That's free hugs pervertified. D:

Also, being allowed to touch something isn't going to stop people from being able to get obsessed by it, just saying.

I'll link the stuff when I get home, but this guy was trying to start a "movement" at a con in which women wore a button on their shirts. Red meant "No touching." Green meant "Go ahead and touch." The rules said that with either color, you had to ask first. Which defeats the purpose of a red button.

It wouldn't have been so bad if this guy hadn't crowed about how it was a movement and how it was de-objectifying women and all this. And saying that there were women coming up to strangers and asking if their breasts were good enough to be touched...that's not encouraging and liberating. It's derogatory.

I liked Phantom Hourglass well enough, but I guess I really wasn't in the mood for the Boss Battle of Insane WTF. Still, it was fun to finally be able to just stab the Phantoms in the back and be on my way. I enjoyed that.

*snickers* Oh, Mia and her sparkling cleavage personality~ I have all of the PW games, as well as AJ. I just need to finish playing them XD I loves my lawyers...

That's how I understood it, and how a lot of other people understood it. And it also seems like wearing a button (which is usually worn on the chest) would further focus attention on the very area which they swear they're not trying to objectify.

...that, and they call it a "mystical" experience. Which just creeps me out.

Well, I will say this. I'm male. So the thought has crossed my mind. On the other hand, I am a nice male, so I would never follow through on this.
I can hardly wait to see the actual context of this O.o

Either way, in my case, it would go like this:

Me: *eyetwitch* ...No. Get away or I'm going to introduce you to my dagger.

*insert repetative head-to-desk contact here*
Out of more of the people talking about it, I actually wanted to just shoot the women bringing it way over preportion.

I won't say I approve of it, but really, it sounds like they just got carried away with it. It just sounds like the guys where having a (rather normal) conversation when some girl overheard them and -encouraged- them to start doing it, they get carried away and people try and make them out as if there violent sexist criminals.

I laughted. All it seemed to me was a couple of guys having some fun, with no intent on offending, demeaning anyone or being sexist, nothing like that but really, you could of turned something like this into a scientific test.

Sure, not everyone will think that it's normal, but god, if your wearing an outfit which barely covers your breasts, and you -don't- want people to comment on them let alone touch them, you should look in the mirror or more simply have someone slap you for being an idiot.

and what offends me most is how some women compair there breasts to a mans balls... I mean seriously, thats a completely different thing. Partly because breasts being arousing is no different than ears, there function is more or less unreleated to actual sex.

Ok I should really comment on this type of subject, theres a WHOLE lot off offending to everyone. Nothing in this kind of debate will offend someone. How I took it as the whole Idea was to have people to ask if they could touch which in may be a little bold and wtf-ish but I would think, between having someone asking to touch you, or someone asking to fuck you, the former is something you'd rather prefer.

Everyone basicly has there own veiws on what type of contact you should have with strangers. and I sure as hell know because I refuse glomping from anyone or anything. random hugs from guys are fine if I know the person or I can tell there just overly friendly (or possibly drunk) and I know that (breasts or not) it's the same idea.

Really, if women don't want men to think up ideas like this, they shouldn't walk around half naked all the time
