I just finished Escaflowne. Here are my two initial thoughts:

A) WHERE THE FIZZITY-UCK WAS THE ENDING MAKE-OUT SCENE?

B) Dilandau. 'Nuff said. Excuse me while I pick up the broken pieces of my brain and try to pretend that I wasn't screaming (mostly obscenities) at my TV screen straight through the last three episodes.

*puts it back on the shelf and grabs Abenobashi*

A) Actually, I've loved the fact that we didn't have an ending make-out scene, and even the fact that the two parts of the main pairing chose to live their own life, each in his/her own world.
But well, I've never liked Van, and therefore doesn't care much for the main pairing, so...

B) I've loved the Dilandau/Serena plot twist and how it was handled.

A) After all that, not even a kiss. My inner shoujo fan was weeping.

B) I didn't say I didn't like it ^_~ Just that it broke my brain a bit.

B)Ah I see... The obscenities were more the "WTF?!" kind of obscenities. XD;

B) Yup~ When they started hinting at it and showing images, I was like, "No [bleep] way, what the [bloop], that cannot possibly be [pelican] HAPPENING!" My sister, in the next room, was worried about me XD But it was an awesome twist--certainly didn't see it coming!

[PELICAN]!? SERIOUSLY!? I know that was another censor thing but shush

and yeah I already knew the plot twist friggin watched the special stuff on the DVDs as I was watching them so SPOILED EARLY but yeah was weird.

there should of been a make out scene THEN they never see each other again kind of thing, It'd of been more dramatic? IDK

YAHRLY! I just think pelican is a funny word. Yay for being easily amused!

I clicked on the special stuff on the DVD, and it said "SPOILER ALERT" so I clicked away. I behaved! I didn't spoil anything for myself this time! :D *is something of a spoiler whore OTL*

I would have been happy with even a kiss... *shoots my inner shoujo fangirl with a tranquilizer dart to make it go hushy*

I was really having trouble getting into the series for the first ten episodes or so, but the ending got me. It got me IN THE FACE. And I liked it :D

And I'm nurturing a couple of small plunnies ^^;;

The ending got me. The last six episodes for sure had me hook, line, and sinker. As did every episode with Dilandau *loves that little evil psychotic dude to pieces, yesh*

I watched the first episode of Abenobashi. I'm...not quite sure what to think of it just yet, but eh, it's only thirteen episodes, so it'll breeze by pretty quickly :D

The first two episodes are sort of "...what, norly. Wtf?" XD

I've gotten the impression that a lot of people like that little pyro ♥ Overall, I wound up enjoying the series. I didn't realize that it had me until the ending, though *laugh*

I like Furi Kuri, though I do not know why and can't claim to understand the show. And I've seen these two be compared, so we shall see!

Yeah, it was a good ending, but I still felt :\ about it. XD

I loved FLCL, but I don't think Abenobashi is as good. However I think it's better than Excel, though I know people would disagree.

XDD I think an ending make-out scene would have solved that!

FLCL is amazing. I'll see with Abenobashi~ At least thirteen episodes doesn't call for a massive time commitment. And Excel Saga...I've liked what I've seen, if in a mindless senseless sort of way. That show is actually going to be on the second poll of five anime that I put up after I finish these five series :D

I admit, at the end, I was going, "Not even a hug?!"

It was one heck of a twist with Serena and Dilandu, wasn't it? ^_^

I still love the show.

I knooooooow! *waves stick* Whither the smooching??

THAT BLEW MY MIND. BLEW IT INTO PIECES. PRETTY RED FIREWORKS.

I wound up enjoying it, though it wasn't until about the last handful of episodes that I realized it had me XD And I did like the ending. And I have a plunnie or two.

Well, considering thier age, I'd settle for snuggling but we didn't even get that. TT

Oooo, pretty.

*cackles* It had you and you didn't even know it. I like that. ^_^ I knew it had me within the first couple of episodes because I couldn't stop thinking about it. Strangely enough, I don't have any plunnies for the series. For me, that last episode had a touch of finality that makes it difficult for me to write from.

My inner shoujo fangirl (which is very deeply rooted, to be sure, since I watched a lot of shoujo back in the day) is demanding at least a kiss ;o;

*is dead now*

It wasn't until about halfway through it that I realized I was really wondering what was going to happen next. And then the last six episodes were like "MUST WATCH. MUST WATCH MORE NOW." But the treadmill is a harsh mistress...

I actually just had a plunnie for it that I really, really like. It doesn't add anything to the ending, per se, but... *plotplotplot*

My inner shojo fangirl doesn't blame yours in the slightest.

*snicker*

*mad laughter along the lines of Dilandu's laugh* Don't you love stories where you can't predict what will happen next?

Go ahead and write it. I double dog dare you.

I' answer the A) part ^^
Well, even if there wasn't a so-romantic scene in the end (but we all wish there was) we can write an alternative ^_~ There are so many cool fics about the main pairing. Van is unique, and one can make up a really awsome story about him and Hitomi. The anime is great ^_^

I was a shoujo fan for a long time, and I still do enjoy me some shoujo now and then. Thus, I sort of like the ending smoochings and stuff XD The anime won me over in the end. It just took it a while to hook me ^^;;

Will say this, though--the music was FANTASTIC.

At the moment, the end was good enough. Hitomi is too young, she has to finish school. Van needs to rebuild his castle and he is too young for a marrige. But they still have that bond between them. There is hope! Hitomi can still see him. Remeber the scene on the train-stop. She saw him sitting on the stone. ^^
I think, that with great talent of yours you can write a one-shot where some years have passed and Van and Hitomi met each other and confessed their love to each other and of course stay together forever! >_<
Hitomi will be the best queen for Fenelia. ^_^
And the music is really fantastic >_<
Van and Hitomi forever!!! It's one of my very favourite animes!!!!!

I've noticed this ;o; *craiz*

...in regards to what? DO YOU EVER KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT? For a long time, a lot of our fangirling sessions were one of us talking while the other smiled and nodded, and then we switched XD Then came the gay lawyers...

Also, I must add that Escaflowne has one of the most gorgeous scores I've ever heard in an anime. The music is WONDERFUL. Like I might be burning a CD and putting it in my car, it's that good.
